BO) Details concerning the DESL
path command. The "path" command is related to the "paths" option which is available to all of the file-accessing DESL functions. However, unlike the "paths" alternate locations which are ALWAYS hierarchically the highest in search precedence, the alternate locations specified via the "path" command are hierarchically the LOWEST in search precedence. Up to 10 "path" locations can be in effect at any one time. "path" locations are full or partial path names. Each "path" can be up to 64 characters in length. Paths longer than 16 characters MUST be enclosed in the question mark (?) delimiters.
Via the "path" command, alternate locations can be both added to and removed from the current list of such locations in effect. (See the "status" command.) The FIRST path string is set at DESL invocation to the location of the DESL system routines. The "path" command can be followed by a string OR a number from 2 to 10 OR the string "last". The string "last" implies the last path slot currently filled.
If a string of up to 64 characters follows "path" on the same line, the next available slot (maximum number of slots = 10) will be filled with the specified string.
If a number from 2 to 10 follows "path" on the same line, the specified path slot will be cleared. Remaining filled slots beyond the cleared path slot will be shifted forward in the collection of filled path slots.
If the special string "last" is specified in lieu of a slot number, the last filled path slot will be cleared.
