( HW) Example(s) of the use of the DESL stack command.

(See the command details for the stack command.)

Example(s) of the use of the stack command :

stack
files r10 thru r15 newfilex stk1 go

This execution of "stack" will attempt to append the SIF
files "r10", "r11", "r12",...,"r15" from the current
directory onto a new SIF file named "stk1", also in
the current directory. Since the "newfilex"
option was used to name the new file, the file "stk1" will
be marked at its creation as a file to "PURGE at cleanup".

stack
names alpha cl cd run constant newtest 47 files xb15
xb10 thru xb4 names test point setval -88
names mach incrrec irec 1 1 incrfile ifile 10 1 files xb3
paths null1 thru null8 \mnt\xxx\ go

This execution of "stack" will attempt to append to a new
file (1) the files "xb15", "xb10", "xb9",..., "xb4" from the
current directory and, since the corresponding alternate
location set by the "paths" argument list was not blank, ie,
"null...", (2) the file "xb3" from the alternate location
"\mnt\xxx\" . Because its name has not been specified, the
name of this new file will be of the type "gen#", where "#" is
a numeric suffix. Only the SIF variables "alpha", "cl", "cd",
"run", "test", "point", and "mach" will be extracted from the
the records of the files being stacked. The three new variables
"newtest", "irec", and "ifile" will also be written to each record
of the new file.

The variable "newtest" will have a constant value of 47 for all
records. The variable "irec" will have an initial value of 1.0
at the first record stacked from each different file and will
increment by 1.0 for each record of that file. The variable
"ifile" will have an initial value of 10.0 and will increment
by 1.0 at the beginning of each existing file being stacked.
