ViGYAN, Inc., of Hampton, Virginia announced today that it would begin conducting regularly scheduled training classes on the use of the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) Tetrahedral Unstructured Software System (TetrUSS) at its Hampton headquarters. TetrUSS is an unstructured-grid flow analysis software system developed with the goal of providing non-expert users a validated capability for performing rapid aerodynamic analysis and design of complex configurations. Capabilities include rapid grid generation, as well as inviscid and viscous flow analysis. TetrUSS has been applied to a wide range of flow-analysis problems in many fields ranging from aerospace to biomedical. In recognition of its value, TetrUSS has twice been selected as NASA's "Software of the Year" (1996 and 2004). ViGYAN has been involved in the development of portions of TetrUSS since its inception (VGRID was originally developed by ViGYAN under the SBIR program), and ViGYAN has been active in the training and support of TetrUSS users during the entire time that the effort has been conducted at LaRC.
The 4-day TetrUSS training courses include hands-on tutorials and updated documentation encompassing each aspect of the process, from grid generation to post-processing of the results. Trainees are encouraged to bring geometries representative of the problems they are working on, for rapid application of their newly learned skills. The training will be conducted in a newly equipped CFD laboratory featuring Mac OS X, Linux, and SGI workstations. ViGYAN will also begin offering additional, ongoing support plans for TetrUSS users. These plans are designed to allow users to draw on ViGYAN's in-house staff of TetrUSS experts for assistance on their specific cases. This will also provide users a central point of contact for the latest versions of and documentation on TetrUSS.
"We are excited to be able offer training and support on such a proven, validated package," said Sudhir Mehrotra, President of ViGYAN. "The TetrUSS team at NASA Langley has done a tremendous job of developing this system over the years, and we look forward to providing a high level of training and support on the system, to assist in bringing this technology to an even broader base of users."
