Warhammer 40,000 Bibliographic Information

It is often stated that Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe is vast and richly detailed because a mountain of material has been published on it.  The purpose of this site is to catalogue and describe as much of this material as possible.  This is an undertaking fraught with peril:  I certainly do not have the time and resources to make this archive exhaustive.  Apocryphal materials by publishers other than Games Workshop are very difficult to obtain.  Electronically published 40K data on the web is growing at a rapid rate.  Therefore, gentle reader, please be kind to this site's faults, and contribute corrections where you can.

One of the reasons for the popularity of the Warhammer 40,000 universe is its appeal to many people in many ways.  To some it is a catalogue of miniatures to collect.   To others, it is a table-top wargame of intricate strategy and cunning.  To others it is a rich vein of images and ideas for art, fiction, and modelling.  To others it is a brilliant setting for role-playing games.  My own bias is toward role-playing and fiction.  Therefore, I have constructed this archive to be most useful to those attempting to circumscribe and examine the 40K milieu.  To this end it is important to include as much background material as can be found from any source, including related games set in the same universe.  Therefore you can expect to see data on everything from Adeptus Titanicus to Doom of the Eldar included at some point in the future.

Editor's Notes:  While I am 33 as of this writing, I am not one of those "started with Rogue Trader and am playing it still" gamers.   Though a life-long wargammer, I started on Second Edition 40K, but it wasn't long after that my wanderings brought the first Rogue Trader book to my attention.  I assembled this collection of Rogue Trader data to try to get a handle on the "First Edition" rules and background.  It has been helpful to me, and I hope it has been helpful to you.  Please send comments, corrections, and questions to me.  Thanks for reading!
